Entrepreneurship is now integrated in European universities through curricula and start-up support systems. With women representing around 50% of students at universities but very much under-represented in entrepreneurial
careers, the series of debates has looked at identifying specific problems which prevent women in science choosing this career and what support structures are available in universities to encourage women to think about an entrepreneurial career. During the series of events, awareness of the issue has been raised and a number of good practices from Europe and the US have been presented.
Discussions have started at 5 European universities (in Germany, Spain, Poland, Latvia and the Netherlands) as a result. The final region to start the discussion is Bucharest, Romania with an event taking place from 12.–13. November 2008. Stakeholders are concerned with encouraging and supporting female scientists and who offer advice on entrepreneurial aspects in higher education institutions are invited to participate.
Participation in the conference is free of charge.
