BackThe preliminary programme has been announced for the Nordic Conference on Women's Entrepreneurship and Regional Development with focus on Women's Resource Centres (WRCs) to be held on 19. October 2007 in Stockholm, Sweden.
The European Regional Policy for the coming years envisages active agents responsible for shaping their own future. Many regions are engaging in a process of image (re)creation in their efforts to construct a ‘special’ identity. Identities that can reinforce growth and help the regions adapt to a knowledge-driven economy. The focus of this conference is on Gender equality as an important know-how towards Regions of Economic Change.
Regional and local Women Resource Centres (WRCs) have in the last 10 years become key actors for regional development and growth in Sweden. The Swedish WRC model has successfully been disseminated to other countries and in 2006 a European association, for resources centres, WINNET Europe, was set-up. WINNET Europe has today member organisations in 21 of the 27 European Member States. Within the EU Interreg III B Baltic Sea Region Programme the FEM-project, has been implemented years 2004-2007 to enhance women's entrepreneurship in the Baltic Sea Region, including Poland.
The Conference aims at sharing experiences and best practices from the innovative work carried out by WRCs in the Nordic Countries, Baltic States and Poland as well as within WINNET Europe. Research findings in the fields of women's entrepreneurship and women's participation in regional development will be also presented during the Conference.
The expected results from the Conference are a long-term action plan for WRCs as drivers for regional development, entrepreneurship promotion in co-operation with key regional stakeholders and an action plan reinforcing women's participation in the European Structural Fund programmes during the period 2007-2013.
Registration to the conference commences on 19. July. The conference fee is 99 Euro (900 SEK) and this amount includes admission to the Conference, lunch, coffee and refreshments as well as the Conference documentation.
