BackInternational Best Practice Conference Stimulating a Balanced Participation of Men and Women in Knowledge-based Entrepreneurship through Targeted Networking and Business Mentoring
13 February 2008, International Centre for Life, Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom.
Throughout Europe, there are substantially fewer female than male entrepreneurs; this imbalance is particularly noticeable in the knowledge economy sectors. In order to help any potential entrepreneur start up two aspects can significantly improve their chances of success – effective networking with other businesses and learning from experience business people.
Over the past year, Project DIONE has developed and proved a very effective approach to networking and mentoring of female entrepreneurs in knowledge-based sectors.
Over 500 entrepreneurs took part in DIONE Networking Events run in 4 countries; DIONE also connected over 50 business women with experienced businesses mentors thus helping them become more successful.
The DIONE Conference will stimulate discussions around the key areas of innovative business support for entrepreneurs in knowledge economy, especially the provision of opportunities for business networking, mentoring and availability of finance for all entrepreneurs. The Conference will showcase the successes of the project and launch a DIONE Best Practice Report.
