At this year's Emmy Noether Annual Meeting in Potsdam, about 160 young researchers met to discuss about the competitiveness of German universities.

(01 August 2008) German universities are facing serious challenges. At this year's Emmy Noether Annual Meeting in Potsdam, about 160 young researchers met to discuss whether, and to what extent, they are ready to meet these challenges. This meeting, from the 25 - 27 July, was the seventh meeting of its kind, and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) had invited current funding recipients and alumni of its Emmy Noether Programme as well as a number of successful funding applicants for the European Research Council's ERC Starting Grant competition and winners of the European Young Investigator Award.
